The real desert experience. Go deep into the Sahara experience while visiting some of the most beautiful Bereber villages on the way. This Marrakesh to Merzouga travel plan is purposefully taking you to a face to face with the ridge of the High Atlas and a breathtaking visit to the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou.

Planning

DAY 1

Marrakech - Ait Ben Hadou - Ouarzazate - Dades Valley

The Tour starts at 7:15 in the morning in the Hostel where the driver will pick you up. Heading to the High Atlas Mountains through the Tizi-N-Tichka pass, you will enjoy a sneaky road, beautiful landscapes and colourful Berber Villages along the way. We will stop at Ait Barka Village and the top of the Tizi N Tichka for a car break and some time for breakfast. Bringing your own snack is recommended. We will head to Ait Ben Hadou where a local guide will help you explore one of the UNESCO World Heritage monuments in Morocco. Here you will also have one hour of free time for lunch and then back to the car on our way to Ouarzazate, Roser Valley, Skoura Palm grove and finally to Dades valley and the gorges. The first night will be in a typical Moroccan style Hotel located in the heart of the Dades Gorges. Accommodation, diner, and breakfast are included.

DAY 2

Dades Valley - Todgha Gorges - Merzouga Sahara Desert

Enjoy a typical Moroccan breakfast and back to the road of the 1.000 Kasbahs and beautiful Berber villages like Tineghir, famous for its palm groves and Jewish quarter. We will get to Todgha gorges where you will have some free time to go on a short trek along the canyons. Afterwards, we will get to Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga were you will have some free time for lunch. Then we will take a camel ride at the sunset to get to the oasis where our camp is located. Spend the night under the stars in a Haima in the middle of the Merzouga Sahara. Diner in the desert and some life drum music with the camel drivers is going to be one of your lifetime experiences.

DAY 3

Merzouga Sahara Desert - Marrakech

Wake up very early in the Morning to see the sun rise and go back to the camp for breakfast. Then you’ll peacefully camel trek back to the village of Merzouga. After stopping in for some free time for lunch, you will find yourself back in Marrakech in no time around 8pm.
